It’s been a while since I last posted a master class, but I’ve always enjoyed highlighting them here on my blog.
The following class is particularly interesting as it focuses entirely on Franz Liszt’s monumental Sonata in B minor S.178, and is hosted by legendary Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel. Recorded at the Royal College of Music in London, the class has been split between two pianists, Elmar Gasanov and Petr Limonov, both of whom have since graduated. Brendel’s comments and suggestions provide a fascinating insight into his own performances.
This master class was recorded at the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall (Royal College of Music) on November 14th 2011. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
