Last week I wrote about the Tokyo International Piano Association (you can read this blog post, here), and this week I would like to continue with a little information about the new TIPA Live Show which will be taking place each month, hosted by TIPA’s artistic director, Aisa Ijiri.
Japanese pianist Aisa will interview a different musician, focusing on a particular aspect of their work, and the interview will be ‘live-streamed’ on various platforms, including TIPA’s social media sites and their website. The broadcasts will last around 45 minutes and will include performances, guest appearances, and the chance to win prizes, too!
The first live show will take place on December 6th 2020 at 12.00 noon (UK time), and I’m delighted to be the featured guest. Focusing on my work as a composer, we will be highlighting my latest volume, Simply Driven, published by Schott Music. This book contains five virtuoso piano pieces, four of which have been dedicated to four female pianists. Aisa (who is a dedicatee of one piece) and I will be joined by pianists Yuki Negishi, Maiko Mori and Madalina Rusu, and we will chat about the inspiration behind each work as well as their first, and subsequent, performances, and you will be able to hear all four pieces, played by their respective dedicatees.
